our evening with Samira Ben Laloua from EXTRA EXTRA

Last Night we had editor Samira Ben Laloua from EXTRA EXTRA in the shop for the launch of the new issue. Toine Donk from DAS MAGAZIN interviewed her about Extra Extra and her love for making magazines. She told us she had quite a history in magazine making (she was one of the founding editors of Club Donny) and that she is fascinated by pages coming together to form a magazine. Samira said she is looking for stories with Extra Extra and searches for the sensual part that is more hidden in eroticism.
The two editors are both in charge of succesful independent magazines and talked about their favourite magazines and what makes a magazine a good magazine: they agreed that the love for the topic has to be very clear in the first place. Toine is a big fan of Little White Lies and The White Review and Saira loves Mousse and The Gourmand.
After the talk Florentine Wellen read the story Metro Sex by Dutch writer Anne Vegter, which is included in the new issue, a spicy story about sex in the Rotterdam underground.
Thanks Samira, Toine and Florentine and Nikos Doulos for taking pictures. Also thanks to Warsteiner for providing beers.

Next up is a presentation with editor Ricarda Messner of Berlin-based indie magazine FLANEUR on May 13th, in collaboration with Expodium as part of their Unmaking The Netherlands symposium. Flaneur: Fragments of a street choses one street in one city for every issue. Watch this space for more details soon.
